Botany

This piece features the natural interplay between a lightly primed canvas and water thinned acrylic paint.
I often use this watercolor style technique in which capillary action lets the paint sink into the canvas and bleed together with other colors and forms . When the overall theme of the painting becomes apparent, I switch back to a more controlled method and enhance the dominant forms accentuating the spirit of the piece.

The subject matter is best described as an unplanned nature hike. At a comfortable pace, the wild fragrance of leaves and blossoms float in the essence of treetop filtered sunlight coalescing with the moist earth of the distant horizon in the glint of an eye.

Mounted on my own handmade stretchers, this piece is acrylic on heavy gauge cotton canvas. It comes framed, signed, and wired for easy hanging.

Total Dimensions:

25x24x1.5

plus: Framed with half inch thick beveled wood (gloss white)
