Who is Devin Abrams, and where did he come from?

Devin Abrams grew up in Oakale, NY, and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia in 2001. Since then, he has traveled the country producing art inspired by the most abstract details and vagaries of experience and thought. Colorful, organic, acrylic on hand stretched canvas. Having lived off and on in New Orleans for several years now, he is currently endeavoring to bring this art to a wider audience.

Devin Abrams is also a singer, songwriter, and sometime performer of solo and accompanied original music.

Influences include, but are not limited to, Hieronymus Bosch, Wassily Kandinsky, Dorothea Tanning, Georgia O’Keefe, Auguste Rodin, Constantin Brancusi, Edgar Degas, and my Uncle,

Isaac Abrams. Additionally, much of the inspiration stems from music, random visual media, books, and not only the lush, but also the gritty parts of America from sea to sea and border to border.

How can I buy a painting?

Step 1: Send an email via the contact page including the piece’s title (or “caption”) and the nature of your interest.

(these are original one of a kind pieces, not prints, and are therefore subject to availability)

Step 2: Receive an email from info@coolneworleansart.com confirming the availability, and the requested price of the artwork. Plus a direct contact phone number.

(So, make sure your junk filter does not block this email!)

Step 3: Respond to this confirming your interest and include a shipping address if you have not already done so.

Step 4: When we reach an agreement, you will receive an electronic PayPal™ invoice from Devin Abrams via info@coolneworleansart.com and pay by credit card, debit card, bank transfer, or PayPal account. Upon payment, the artwork is promptly shipped.

This is the safest and easiest way to complete a transaction.

Note to locals: If you are a local to the Greater New Orleans area, we can meet face to face, and arrange payment and exchange through more conventional means. Email for details.

Note about magnets: If you are ordering only magnets, be sure to include a list of desired titles, sizes, and a shipping address right away. An electronic invoice will be sent out promptly, usually the next day. Or, just take advantage of the new user friendly automated PayPal™ shopping cart to purchase any of the displayed cool magnets.

Is there a return policy?

If there is a defect with the product, and you are seriously not happy, then you will need to contact the artist immediately. There has to be a good reason, and this is handled at the sole, but gracious, discretion of the artist.

Can I try out a piece of art for trial period?
If you are a local greater New Orleans customer, you may be eligible for a limited two week trial period in which you can display art at a home or office in order to decide if you would like to purchase the art. There is a small security deposit that is applied to the sale, or returned if the piece is returned in original condition. Email for details.

Can I rent the art?

Local customers can also lease the art. Agree to a six month “lease” in which you will enjoy a different painting each month. This is great for offices, waiting rooms, conference rooms, even dining rooms! Other arrangements may also be available. Email for details.

How about commissions?

Sure. Specify dimensions, colors, and mood for a personal effect. Charges will be calculated based on size and shape. Half the purchase price is due up front, half on completion. No returns on commissioned work, but I will edit a piece at least once or twice if you are unsatisfied.

If you are going to be in the Philadelphia area and you are into music, you should definitely check out my old friends, The Hydrogen Jukebox, currently reachable at

www.myspace.com/thehydrogenjukebox. Find them for a dose of The Philadelphia music scene at it’s best. Or if your up for a more blood curdling experience you’ll want to see the www.unholysideshow.com. Performance art for those with a stomach for stunts, not illusions.

www.freretmarket.org for their info. I was part of the Bayou Boogaloo in 2008. Go to http://thebayouboogaloo.com for their info. I hope to be admitted to the Art Market of New Orleans in Palmer Park this spring. They are online at www.artscouncilofneworleans.org. The Bean gallery in Mid-City hosted an extended showing of my work in 2007. Their website is located at http://thebeangallery.net/ Visit this local spot for good coffee and a nice front porch.

Resources:

Here are some of the online stores I use somewhat regularly.

www.cheap-domainregistration.com is a reliable domain registration company, though I don’t have an opinion of their hosting services. www.magnetvalley.com is a great company I use to purchase all sorts of magnetic materials. www.uline.com is great for bulk packing materials or go to www.usps.com to have flat rate boxes and envelopes sent to you for free. If you are a painter using art supply stores, you may want to look for better prices online. www.dickblick.com has good prices on the paint I like.
